Birthday wishes and New Year’s Eve resolutions are all promises that we make to our selves. They can range from traveling more and taking time for your self to getting involved in charity work and running a 5k. These promises fill us with hope, determination, and drive. Sunday’s are like mini resolutions to me. I see the promise of Monday as a fresh start to do things better. My goals can range from no dishes in the sink to adding an extra workout into the week. I sometimes fail, but mostly it makes me aware of how I treat my body and live my life.
We have all heard about making small goals so that we can achieve success and keep moving forward. This is my challenge to you. Use each Sunday as a New Year’s resolution or birthday wish. Try looking at Monday as a new start to meet your goals. Maybe this week you will strive to replace 1 can of soda a day with water or unsweetened ice tea. How about stretching each night before bed? Maybe you will add an extra 30 minutes (or more) of exercise to your week. By setting these small goals you will build your confidence in your ability to make positive changes.
Some may ask, “what if I fail”? Well, you have a Monday only a few days away to try again. Major life changes don’t happen over night. They take trial and error. They take success and failure. But mostly they take a starting point and each week, each day is a starting point to move forward and succeed.
