Darn 3 Day Weekend

While my creative juices are flowing and I am getting super excited about Hayden's upcoming party, I just can't decide when to have it.
Here is the problem.
We live on the east coast.
Our families (minus 1 crazy travel schedule sister-in-law) live on the west coast.
My 2 other girls BOTH have birthdays in October.
They are like a 2 for 1 special in the birthday travel department.
Hayden is the middle child and sometimes wants to scream "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!!!"

Her last birthday was spent in a hotel room...

with a birthday cake from a restaurant

So this year I want to go all out
the problem...
Memorial. Day. Weekend.
It's crazy down here by the sea shore.
fist pumping crazy.
I was planning on having the party next Saturday the 28th,
but now I realize that many people will be gone and when you are only inviting 5 or so kids - it's a big deal.

I'm counting on the fact that kids have no sense of time so that we can have the party in 2 weeks.
On a non- 3 day weekend.
I just hope the weather isn't too hot and we aren't invaded by unwanted guest.
In Jersey the unwanted guest bite.
Hard.
While drawing blood.
Dilann screams when she sees a fly.
Any type of fly.
Poor kid is traumatized.
We all are.

Party Countdown

My Hayden is turning 5 in a few weeks.
Holy cow where did the time go?!?

Yesterday she was this
Cute, chubby little blob of drool

Now...
She is a kind, caring, sassy little girl with a VERY quick wit.

For her big day we are having an outdoor Tea Party.
Over the next few days I will be in creative over drive as I make most of the decorations.
My overall vision is something like this
with a cake like this
(yes, I'm feel VERY ambitious)
I will be making these and these and these

Hope you like the tid bits!
I can't wait to share the final results

Around the Corner

Our lives seem to be in a constant state of flux.
1. Moving across country
2. New school/ first real school year for Ayla
3. Totally being unemployed for me
4. East coast winter
5. Moving out of a rental into a permanent home
6. Enrolling Hayden in kindergarden

I have boxes I've never unpacked because they either don't fit into our tiny townhouse or they are the type of item that once you put up, you don't take down.
I have been aching to paint and decorate and re-purpose items to make a new home for us.
But, I have to wait.
I have to wait until mid-summer before we can start house hunting.
 Among other things...

While I am a wonderer by nature (hello- Sagittarius here through and through.), I am also a nester. I need to create a home and imposed some sort of order on the chaos of a family counting five.
I know, I know, so not the Chandra of 20 years ago who detested everything attached to that word... organize.

Life is moving and messy and wonderful.
It is passing too fast.
And in all my happiness it is
still
changing.
