In the wonderful world of Pilates it can sometimes be a guessing games as to whether an instructor has a valid certification and detailed knowledge of the work; not to mention the human body. Well have no fear my fellow practitioners this soon shall change. The Pilates Method Alliance had a sit down with 80 or so certifying agency over the term "certified" and how it impacts Pilates as a profession.
In a nut shell, most teacher trainers will change their verbiage to "diploma" and things of that nature. This leads the way to an independent 3rd party doing the actual certifying/licensing. Think massage therapists. It will also regulate the "schools" so all are on the same page.
As a Pilates teacher trainer and instructor this makes me very happy to know there will soon be a way to insure that qualified people are teaching.
